I drove past a vast field of soy. Yet, on the horizon — there it was — a solitary and striking brown corn stalk. Standing alone. Standing odd in the midst of soy.
Why it was there…? I didn’t know.
What I did know was that I felt sort of proud of it — for being who it was, amidst a field of green.
I had to admire that stalk. I imagined the soy plants whispering, “You are not a corn stalk; you are soy.”
But maybe that little stalk kept believing anyway. Maybe it kept standing in who it was created to be. Maybe it still believed God made it right — even in an all-green world.
To God, that corn stalk, in all its glory, was purposed just right.
I hope the stalk knew that — because God never makes a mistake, nor does He waste how He creates His creation. That includes you, my friend. You are His wonderful workmanship.
Maybe today you feel like that stalk.
You wonder:
“Why did God make me like this?”
“Why am I so different?”
“How come I haven’t quite figured myself out yet?”
But what if you weren’t created to fit in, but to stand out?
What if the thing you most hate about yourself is what God most plans to use — powerfully?
And what if everything feels dull, not because you’re broken, but because God is longing for you to step into His more?
That’s a thought, isn’t it?
If He can speak through a corn stalk, how much more won’t He speak through you?
